A. System Function

The Very-High-Frequency (VHF) system gives short-range voice-communication with ground stations or other aircraft. The VHF system operates in the 118.000 to 151.975MHz frequency range.

B. System Components
  1. There are two VHF sub-systems, the No. 1 VHF sub-system and the No. 2 VHF sub-system.
  2. The primary components of each system are the:
    • Integrated Communications Unit (Comms Unit) (Ref. Fig. 2)

    • VHF antenna (Ref. Fig. 1 and Fig. 2)
C. System Operation

The VHF system changes audio input signals from the flight crew, the mission control operator, the forward and the aft observers, and transmits them at VHF Radio Frequency (RF). The VHF system also changes the received VHF RF signals to give audio outputs to the fligh
