A. System Functions
The fire protection system (the system) gives a warning to the flight crew when there is:
- A fire in the power plant
- An overheat in the area around the power plant
- Smoke in the baggage bays
- Smoke in the toilet
- A fault in the engine fire-detection system
- A fault in the overheat detection system
- A leak in the Environmental Control System (ECS) bleed supply-duct on the front spar of the wing
- A leak in the ECS bleed supply-duct in the ECS bay
The system also lets the flight crew extinguish fires which occur in the engine, the nacelles or the pressurized cabin.

- Engine fire and overheat detection sub-system (Ref. 26-11-00)
- Smoke detection sub-system (Ref. 26-12-00)
- ECS bleed-duct leak-warning sub-system (Ref. 26-13-00)
- Engine and nacelle fire-extinguisher
- Portable fire-extinguisher sub-system (Ref. 26-25-00)
