A. System FunctionThe engine fire and overheat detection system gives a warning to the flight crew when there is:
- A fire in the power-plant
- An overheat in the area around the power-plant
- A fault in the engine fire-detection system
B. System ComponentsThe primary components of the engine fire and overheat detection system are the:
- Firewire elements (Ref. Fig. 2)
- Fire detection control-units (Ref. Fig. 3)
- Overheat detection control-units (Ref. Fig 3)
- Fire system test-switch (Ref. Fig. 1)
C. System OperationThe firewire elements give an output to the control units when a fire or overheat condition occurs. The control units compare the inputs and send warning outputs to the Central Annunciator Panel (CAP) (Ref. 31-51-00) and the Flight Data System (FDS) (Ref. 31-31-00)
