26-11-00  ENGINE FIRE AND OVERHEAT DETECTION SYSTEM Back

A. System Function

The engine fire and overheat detection system gives a warning to the flight crew when there is:
  • A fire in the power-plant
  • An overheat in the area around the power-plant
  • A fault in the engine fire-detection system

B. System Components

The primary components of the engine fire and overheat detection system are the:
  • Firewire elements (Ref. Fig. 2)
  • Fire detection control-units (Ref. Fig. 3)
  • Overheat detection control-units (Ref. Fig 3)
  • Fire system test-switch (Ref. Fig. 1)

C. System Operation

The firewire elements give an output to the control units when a fire or overheat condition occurs. The control units compare the inputs and send warning outputs to the Central Annunciator Panel (CAP) (Ref. 31-51-00) and the Flight Data System (FDS) (Ref. 31-31-00)
