A. System FunctionThe smoke detection system gives a warning to the flight crew when there is:
- Smoke in the baggage bays
- Smoke in the toilet
B. System ComponentsThe primary components of the smoke detection system are the:
- Smoke detectors (Ref. Fig. 2 thru Fig. 4)
- Smoke-detectors test switch (Ref. Fig. 1)
C. System OperationThe smoke operations are installed in the main baggage-compartment, and the toilet compartment. When there is smoke in the area around the detectors, they send a warning signal to the Central Annunciator Panel (Ref. 31-51-00) and the Flight Data System (FDS) (Ref. 31-31-00). A system test switch is installed in the flight compartment, to do a test of the circuits of the system.
