26-12-00  SMOKE DETECTION SYSTEM Back

A. System Function

The smoke detection system gives a warning to the flight crew when there is:
  • Smoke in the baggage bays
  • Smoke in the toilet

B. System Components

The primary components of the smoke detection system are the:
  • Smoke detectors (Ref. Fig. 2 thru Fig. 4)
  • Smoke-detectors test switch (Ref. Fig. 1)

C. System Operation

The smoke operations are installed in the main baggage-compartment, and the toilet compartment. When there is smoke in the area around the detectors, they send a warning signal to the Central Annunciator Panel (Ref. 31-51-00) and the Flight Data System (FDS) (Ref. 31-31-00). A system test switch is installed in the flight compartment, to do a test of the circuits of the system.
