27-15-00  AILERON TAB SYSTEM Back

A. System Function

The two aileron tabs (one on each aileron) help to decrease the load on the aileron control system. The position of the left aileron tab is set to give the aircraft trim control around the longitudinal (Roll) axis.

B. System Components

The primary components (Ref. Fig. 1 thru Fig. 9) of the system are:
  • The aileron trim control (the trim control)
  • The screwjack
  • The trim/ balance tab lever assembly
  • The balance tab lever assembly
  • The aileron tab control surfaces (the tabs) (Ref. 57-60-00)
  • The cable system (Ref. 27-00-00)

C. System Operation (Ref. Fig. 10)

The aileron tab system has two functions:
  • The balance function (which causes the tabs to move in the opposite direction to that of the ailerons).
  • The trim function (which gives manual control of the position of the tab on the left aileron).
