A. System Function

The rudder and tab control system controls the aircraft around the yaw axis.

B. System Components

These primary components (Ref. Fig. 1 thru Fig. 5) are installed in the system:
  • The rudder pedals
  • The rudder pedal adjusters
  • The rudder torque tube
  • The front drive quadrant
  • The drive quadrant as stn 379.0
  • The control cables
  • The rudder control surface (Ref. 55-40-00)

C. System Operation (Ref. Fig. 6 and Fig. 7)

The cable system transits the movement of the rudder pedals to the rear rudder drive-quadrant. The drive quadrant turns the rudder to the left or to the right. Pulleys and fairleads hold the cables to prevent damage. There are two sets of cables in the front part of the system to prevent a loss of control if a cable becomes disconnected.
