27-35-00  ELEVATOR TAB SYSTEM Back

A. System Function

The elevator tab system gives trim control around the lateral (pitch) axis. The elevator tab system also gives aerodynamics help to decrease the loads on the control column.

B. System Components

The elevator tab system (Ref. Fig. 1 thru Fig. 7) is a geared-tab system, which has the:
  • Elevator trim control
  • Screwjack
  • Balance lever assembly
  • Trim-tab (Ref. 55-20-00)
  • Cable system

C. System Operation (Ref. Fig. 8 and Fig. 9)

The trim wheel (which is a part of the elevator trim control) moves the cables, which turn the screwjacks. The screwjacks change the low-input force into a high-output force to move the trim tabs. When the elevator control moves the elevators, the time tabs move in the opposite sense. This gives aerodynamics help to decrease the loads on the elevator control system.
