28-40-00  INDICATING Back

A. System Function

The indicating system gives the flight crew indications of:
  • The contents of the fuel tanks
  • A fuel low level condition

B. System Components

The primary components (Ref. Fig. 1 thru Fig. 9) of the indicating system are the:
  • Quantity measurement probes (the probes)
  • Fuel contents signal-processors (the signal processors)
  • Fuel low-level sensors (the sensors)
  • Magnetic level indicators (the indicators)
  • Fuel contents test-switch
  • Fuel low-level test switch

C. System Operations

The quantity measurement probes send electrical signals, which are related to fuel contents, to the signal processors. The signal processors use these signals to calculate the total fuel contents. The signal processors then send signals to the fuel quantity indicators on the engine display panel in the flight compartment. The fuel low-level warning system operates at a sea level. When operated the system gives an indication on the Central Annunciator Panel (CAP) (Ref. 31-51-00) and the engine management panel that the fuel quantity is low. The magnetic level indicators give a mechanical indication of the fuel contents with the aircraft on the ground.
