29-30-00  HYDRAULIC SYSTEM INDICATING Back

A. System Function

The indicating system gives continuous indications of the contents of the hydraulic reservoir. It also gives continuous indications of the hydraulic pressure in the main hydraulic system. The system gives warning indications when:
  • The temperature of the hydraulic fluid is too high
  • The pressure of the main hydraulic system is too low
  • The quantity of fluid in the reservoir is low

B. System Components

The primary components of the indicating system are:
  • The contents transmitter
  • The RESERVOIR CONTENTS/ SYSTEM PRESSURE indicator
  • The low-level sensor
  • The high-temperature switch
  • The pressure transducer
  • Two pressure switches

C. System Operation (Ref. Fig. 1 and Fig. 2)

  1. The contents transmitter measures the quantity of hydraulic fluid in the reservoir.
  2. The high-temperature switch operates when the temperature of the hydraulic fluid (in the reservoir) is too high.
  3. The pressure transducer measures the pressure of the hydraulic fluid in the main hydraulic system.
  4. Two pressure switches measure the pressure of the main hydraulic system downstream of the two Engine Driven Pump (EDP).
