30-00-00  ICE AND RAIN PROTECTION Back

A. System Functions

The ice and rain protection system keeps the aircraft surfaces (wing, stabilizer, elevators, propellers and probes) and the main windshields clear of ice and rain in all weather conditions.

B. Sub-systems (Ref. Fig.1 and Fig. 2)
  1. The wing and stabilizer de-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-11-00) removes ice which has collected on the leading edges of the wings or the stabilizer.
  2. The stall Angle-Of-Attack (AOA) sensor anti-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-12-00) makes sure that ice does not collect on the stall AOA sensors.
  3. The elevator horn anti-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-13-00) makes sure that ice does not collect on the elevator horns. It also gives a warning to the flight crew if a failure occurs in this sub-system.
  4. The total Air Temperature (TAT) probe anti-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-14-00) makes sure that ice does not collect on the TAT probe (Ref. 34-12-00).
  5. The air intakes anti-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-20-00) prevents ice in or around the engine air intakes. This prevents loss of engine power in icing conditions.
  6. The pitot and static anti-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-30-00) makes sure that ice does not collect on the pitot heads or the S1/S2 static plates.
  7. The windows, windshields and doors sub-system (Ref. 30-40-00) keeps the left and the right panel A windshields clear in all weather conditions.
  8. The propeller anti-ice sub-system (Ref. 30-60-00) gives the control and indication of the electrical input to the propeller de-ice mats.
