30-20-00  AIR-INTAKES ANTI-ICE SYSTEM Back

A. System Function

The air-intakes anti-ice system prevents ice in or around the engines and the engine air intakes. This is to prevent loss of engine power in icing conditions.

B. System Components(Ref. Fig. 1)

The primary components of the system are the:
  • Anti-ice valve
  • Anti-ice pressure switch
  • Anti-ice shield.

C. System Operation

The system uses hot bleed-air from the second-stage compressor of the engine. This bleed-air flows through the anti-ice valve to the anti-ice shield. This hot bleed-air flows between the anti-ice shield and the air inlet duct to prevent ice in and around the engine air intake.
