30-30-00  PITOT AND STATIC ANTI-ICE Back

A. System Function

The pitot and static anti-ice system makes sure that ice does not collect on the pitot heads or the static plates.

B. System Components
  1. The primary components of the system are the:
    • LEFT and the RIGHT AIR DATA-switches
    • Three air-data anti-ice control relays
    • Current sensors for heaters in the three pitot-heads and the S1/S2 static plates
    • No.1 pitot/static, No.2 pitot/static and No.3 pitot/TAT anti-ice fail-indicators.
  2. The system also includes the three pitot heads and the S1/S2 static plates of the pitot-static system (Ref. 34-17-00)
  3. C. System Operation

The system supplies 28 V dc electrical power to energize the heater elements in the pitot heads and the S1/S2 static plates. The temperature of the heater elements (and thus the temperature of the pitot heads and the S1/S2 static plates) increases when the heater elements are energized. This increase in temperature makes sure that ice does not collect on the pitot heads and the static plates. The annunciators give indications, on flight compartment, to show that the operation of the system is satisfactory.
