A. System Function- The windshield system keeps the left and the right panel A windshields clear in all weather conditions.
- The system has three independently-controlled sub-systems, the:
- Windshield heating sub-system keeps the windshield clear of condensation and ice.
- Windshield wiper sub-system removes fluid from the windshield.
- Windshield wash sub-system removes contamination from the windshield to give a clear view from the flight compartment.
B. System ComponentsThe primary components of the system are:
- Four windshield anti-ice inverters (Ref. 30-41-00)
- Four windshield anti-ice controllers (Ref. 30-41-00)
- Two wiper arms and blades (Ref. 30-42-00)
- Two motor/converters (Ref. 30-42-00)
- Two panel A windshields (Ref. 56-10-00)
- Two windshield washer pumps
- Two windshield washer reservoir
C. System Operation- The two windshield anti-ice inverters and the two windshield anti-ice converters keep each windshield A panel electrically heated on selection.
- Each motor/converter moves one wiper arm and blade to clean one of the two panel A windshield panels.
- Each windshield washer pump supplies wash fluid to the spray bar on one of the wiper arms (for the applicable windshield panel A).
