A. System Function

The emergency lighting system gives light to help the passengers get out of the aircraft in an emergency.

B. System Components

The primary components of the system are:
  • Four emergency power packs (Ref. Fig. 5)
  • Two aisle dome lights (Ref. Fig. 2)
  • Two vestibule dome lights (Ref. Fig. 2)
  • Three exit locator signs (Ref. Fig. 6 and Fig. 7)
  • Five exit signs (Ref. Fig. 1 and Fig. 2)
  • Two rear emergency-exit lights (Ref. Fig. 3)
  • Eleven floor proximity lights (Ref. Fig. 8 and Fig. 9)
  • Two over-wing escape-path lights (Ref. Fig. 3)
  • One main passenger-door floodlight (Ref. Fig. 3)

C. System Operation

The system has two modes of operation, manual and automatic. In the manual mode, operation occurs immediately one of the two control switches (Ref. Fig. 4) is set to ON. In the automatic (ARMED) mode, operation occurs if an aircraft power failure occurs (double generator failure).
