34-10-00  FLIGHT ENVIRONMENT DATA Back

A. System Function

The flight environment data system uses the air around the aircraft to calculate speed and altitude data.

B. Sub-systems

(1) Air data system (Ref. 34-12-00) uses static pressure, pitot pressure and air temperature to calculate speed and altitude.

(2) Altimeter (Ref. 34-13-00) consists of main and standby altimeters which show altitude data to the crew.

(3) Standby airspeed indication (Ref. 34-14-00) systems gives a standby display of airspeed that is calculated directly from the pitot and static pressures.

(4) Pitot-static system (Ref. 34-17-00) supplies pitot and static pressure to other systems.
