A. System FunctionThe Air Data System (ADS) gives the primary functions related to the airspeed and the altitude of the aircraft. The altimeters (Ref. 34-13-00) show the altitude and the Electronic Flight-Instrument System (EFIS) (Ref. 34-26-00) shows the airspeed.
B. System Components (Ref. Fig. 1 thru Fig. 3)(1) There are two air data sub-systems, the No.1 and the No.2 ADS.
(2) The primary components of the ADS are the:
- Two Digital Air-Data Computers (DADC)
- True Airspeed (TAS) temperature indicator (No.1 ADS only)
- Total Air-Temperature (TAT) probe
C. System Operation The ADS gets an input of the pitot pressure and the static pressure from the pitot/static system (Ref. 34-17-00). It uses these inputs, together with an input of the TAT, to calculate the airspeed and the altitude.
