A. System FunctionThe altimeters show the altitude of the aircraft in increments of feet.
B. System Components (Ref. Fig. 1)The primary components are the:
- Two servoed altimeters (Ref. Fig. 2)
- Standby altimeter (barometric) (Ref. Fig. 3)
C. System OperationThe Air Data System (ADS) (Ref. 34-12-00) calculates the altitude of the aircraft. This is then shown on the servoed altimeters. The standby altimeter uses the barometric pressure around the aircraft to find the altitude of the aircraft (the barometric pressure decreases as its altitude increases). The altitude of the aircraft is then shown on the standby altimeter.
