A. System Function

The pitot-static system supplies pitot and static pressure to other systems and equipment.

B. System Components

The primary components of the system are the:
  • Three pitot heads (Ref. Fig. 1)
  • Four static plates (Ref. Fig. 1 and Fig. 2)
  • Five drain valves (Ref. Fig. 1)

C. System Operation (Ref. Fig. 3)

(1) There are three pitot sub-systems, The P1, the P2 and the P3 sub-systems. The pitot pressure is the pressure caused in the pitot head as the aircraft moves through the air.

(2) There are three static sub-systems, the S1, the S2 and the S3 sub-systems. The four static plates supply the static pressure to each sub-system. The static pressure is the ambient air pressure at the static plates.
