A. System FunctionThe Radio Magnetic Indicator (RMI) system gives the flight crew an indication of the:
- Aircraft heading
- VHF Omni-directional radio Range (VOR) bearing to a ground transmitter
- Automatic Direction Finder (ADF) bearing to a ground transmitter
- Direction Finder (DF) bearing to a transmission source
B. System Operation (Ref. Fig. 1 and Fig. 2)(1) Each RMI gets inputs of the:
- Aircraft heading from the Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) (Ref. 34-25-00)
- VOR bearing from the VOR/ILS/marker system (Ref. 34-54-00)
- ADF bearing from the ADF system (Ref. 34-51-00)
- DF bearing from the DF system (Ref. 95-30-00)
(2) The RMI uses these inputs to show the:
- Aircraft heading
- VOR bearing to a ground transmitter
- ADF bearing to a ground transmitter
- DF bearing to a transmission source
