52-20-00  EMERGENCY EXITS Back

A. General

The emergency exits are panels that you can remove from inside or outside the aircraft in an emergency. The two type III exits are the over-wing exits. The single type II exit is the rear exit from the passenger compartment.

B. System Components(Ref. Fig. 1)

The primary parts of the emergency exits are the:
  • Type II Emergency Exit
  • Type III Emergency Exit
  • Release Mechanism
C. System Operation

The operation of the type II and the type III exits is the same.

When the release handles are set to the open position, the shoot-bolt disengages the shear fitting on the surround structure. The emergency exit is pulled into the passenger compartment on the hinge fittings. The hinge fittings are disengage and the emergency exit is moved clear of the surround structure.
