  2. The flight compartment windows let persons see out of the flight compartment. The windows give an external view of approximately 90 degree left and right of the center line of the aircraft. The panel C is an escape exit for the flight crew. It can also be opened for ventilation in an emergency.

  3. Component Description (Ref. Fig. 1 and Fig. 2)

  4. The primary parts of the windows are:
    • Panel A: It has three layers of toughened glass with an acrylic layer between each glass layer. Windshield heat element, insulation and sensors are included in this sandwich construction.

    • Panel B: It has three layers of toughened glass with an acrylic layer between each glass layer.

    • Panel C: It can be opened to remove the smoke from the flight compartment in an emergency. It can be removed to make an escape exit.
