The primary plumbing and assemblies of oil cooling distribution system and their functions:
  • Rear Turbine Bearing Oil System Plumbing moves the oil to and from the turbine bearing.

  • Unfeathering Pump Connection Plumbing moves the unfeathering pump oil from the aircraft connection on the left side of the engine to the gear case.

  • Beta Switch Connection Plumbing moves the oil from the propeller pitch control to the aircraft connection for the beta pressure switch

  • Forward Gear Case Oil Scavenge Strainer Assembly moves large unwanted material from the oil that is scavenged from the forward part of the gear case module before it gets to the scavenge pump.

  • Aft Gear Case Oil Scavenge Strainer Assembly moves large unwanted material from the oil that is scavenged from the aft part of the gear case module before it gets to the scavenge pump.

  • When Forward Scavenge De-oil Solenoid Valve Assembly opens, air is sent to the scavenge pump. This will decrease the load on the starter during cold weather engine starts.

  • When Oil Pump De-Oil Solenoid valve Assembly opens the oil pump assembly cannot send oil to the system. This prevents a large quantity of oil in the gear case when the engine stops.

  • Oil Pump Assembly supplies pressurized oil to all the engine bearings and gears.

  • Oil Filter Adapter Assembly is the connection point between the oil tank and the gearbox for supply oil and scavenge oil.

  • Oil Filter Assembly is a full-flow cartridge type element that removes unwanted material from the oil system.
