The cranking system controls the start and the stop sequence of the engines in the automatic and manual modes of operation. The modes of operation of the system are the:
Automatic engine start on the ground
Manual engine start on the ground
Automatic (relight) engine start in flight
Engine shut down (normal operation)

The primary components of the system are these ENGINE MANAGEMENT switches:
START MASTER switch
STAR LEFT/RIGHT switches
STOP LEFT/RIGHT switches
MANUAL START switch
MANUAL- START FUEL-ENRICH switch
System Operation
The ENGINE MANAGEMENT switches, together with the Integrated Electronic Control (IEC) computer, control the system. The electrical supplies to the system are through circuit breakers from the 28 V dc emergency busbar and the 28 V dc left and right battery busbars.
